ergolabs group visited us with their heavy eye-tracking equipment for an amazing live demo. After introducing all the theoritical aspects and typical uses of eye-tracking, Jean-Louis d’Hondt and Sacha Kocovski gave us a live demonstration of their system. Here is what I noticed during this very interesting Cleverwood Friday Session:
1. Observe your target, you’ll get more information than what you get from themEye-tracking is the perfect tool for optimizing a website by testing it on real users behaviours. The key of a great website is testing it during all the creation processes. Before testing it, the most important is to define the target and list the goals. Eye-tracking is not the only method for usability, this technique gives you raw data that must be analyzed afterwards. This tool is very performant for visualizing objective data but expensive and time-consuming. So don’t run into it without knowing the purpose of this approach.
